Disney's Family Fun magazine covers Cool Caves destinations in its September issue, and California Cavern is first on the list which includes other notable caves: Carlsbad Caverns National park in New Mexico and Mammoth Cave in Kentucky.
In an article entitled Beat L.A.'s Heat by Going to These Cool Places, the LA Times recommends Moaning Cavern among other global destinations including: Icehotel, Jukkasjarvi, Sweden;  Finnish Sauna Society, Helsinki, Finland and Gelateria del Teatro, Rome.
Middle Earth ExpeditionSacramento Bee photojournalist Florence Low joins our most challenging cave expedition, The Middle Earth Expedition at California Cavern, in her article: Challenging Journey into Middle Earth. Tom Stienstra of the San Francisco Chronicle rates Moaning Cavern, California Cavern and Black Chasm Cavern as 3 of the 5 best caves in the state. In his article entitled "Finding your way in the dark, Cool climes await in state's best caverns," Stienstra says: "Even when much of California looks like nuclear winter and feels like a hellhole, there are ways to find your own private escape."
The Modesto Bee's teen reporter, Vanessa Etheridge recommends the rappel at Moaning Cavern among other summertime activities in her article: "Summer is a great time to try something on the wilder side."

Travel & Leisure Golf's March 2008 issue focuses on golf in the Gold Country. Included is a nice little write up about the Adventure Trip at Gold Cliff Mine and lots of other gems including places to stay and places to eat in the area.
April's issue of Sunset magazine includes an article entitled: The Best Town in Gold Country, about Sutter Creek. Sutter Gold Mine tours is recommended for kids "who get to wear hard hats, ride deep into the Earth, and experience creepy total darkness when the tour guide turns out the lights."
As part of a new TV series called Reel in the Making, host Jasen Wade Nielsen visits Moaning Cavern and reports on his first hand experiences racing along the new zip lines, rappelling and squeezing through tight spaces on the Adventure Trip. This copy of the show is on Youtube.
The Modesto Bee runs an article on Moaning Cavern's Adventure Trip by LA Times writer Hugo Martin.
As part of CBS' Off the Beaten Path series, John Iander of CBS13 news in Sacramento, visits Moaning Cavern to cover the climate change research being conducted by UC Davis student Jessica Oster, using the climate record contained in ancient cave formations.

John Iander of CBS13 news in Sacramento, visits Moaning Cavern to cover the zip lines as part of a series called: One Tank Trips, describing events and attractions that are less than one tank of gas' drive from Sacramento.

ABC Channel 10 Jonathan MummThe ABC channel 10 news series hosted by Jonathan Mumm, and called California Postcard features Moaning Cavern's new zip lines. "CALIFORNIA POSTCARD" is a weekly look at the people, places and things across California that make it the unique state it is.  Part travelogue, part character profile, the stories are sometimes adventurous, sometimes humorous and sometimes heartwarming -- often with practical suggestions of places to go and things to do on your weekends, holidays or vacation time.
Moaning Cavern hosts October's Celebrate Calaveras event put on by the Calaveras Visitors Bureau. Local business people receive free zip line racing in a 2-1/2 hour, catered event, designed to introduce locals to their county attractions at a different location each month.
Calaveras Visitors Bureau hosts the Outdoor Writers Association of California's Fall Conference. Underground Adventures provides free zip lining, rappelling and walk tours at Moaning Cavern, walk tours at California Cavern and Adventure Trips at Gold Cliff Mine, as a part of the 3-day program.

Bay Area Backroads Sutter Gold Mine Doug McConnell launches his Open Road website featuring the Bay Area Backroads series. Check out the Amador's Gold Country Nuggets show to see highlights of the Sutter Gold Mine tour with manager Chris Boitano. The site also includes a story with pictures on California Cavern's Mammoth Cave Expedition, and Moaning Cavern's Adventure Trip.
KVML, KKBN and Star 92.7 FM, Calaveras radio show Underground Adventures' marketing director Lisa Boulton, and Calaveras Visitors Bureau's executive director, Lisa Reynolds, record the first of a series of radio shows airing on KVML, KKBN and STAR92.7. The news show, called "What's Happening in Calaveras" features information on all the fun activities occuring in Calaveras County, with guests involved in the business, tourism and hospitality industries. The show airs on the first Sunday of each month.

Tune in locally at 9:00 am on 1450 AM KVML, 9:30 am on Star 92.7 FM KZSQ, 10:30 am on 93.5 FM KKBN.

Local Amador County residents vote Sutter Gold Mine and Black Chasm Cavern as best tours in Amador County for the second year in a row. Vote initiated by the Amador Ledger Dispatch, the local newspaper.
California Cavern hosts the first in a series of Celebrate Calaveras events, put on by the Calaveras Visitors Bureau. Local business people are given a talk on the history of Cave City by John Fairchild, followed by a guided tour into the cave. The events are intended to give locals a comprehensive overview of all that Calaveras has to offer its visitors. More information can be obtained from the Calaveras Visitors Bureau.

In her "Beat the Heat" article, travel writer for the Sacramento Bee, Janet Fullwood includes information on Black Chasm Cavern, California Cavern and Moaning Cavern.
Sierra Nevada Recreation Corporation's president, Stephen Fairchild, is featured in the 2006 book: Chicken Soup for the Entrepreneur's Soul.
In 2006, a crew for a fast-paced scientific cavern formation film gets footage at Black Chasm Cavern, California Cavern and Moaning Cavern. The film is still in production and is intended for college and university geology student instruction. Go to the "Inner Earth" website.
Black Chasm Cavern's lake is shot for part of a prestigious TV production to be aired on the Discovery Channel in spring 2007. We cannot yet make more details public. The photo at left, taken by award winning cave photographer, Dave Bunnell, shows the cameraman obtaining an underwater to above water shot.

In June 2006, Black Chasm Cavern features in an Amador County episode of The Great Outdoors with Tom Stienstra. This show excerpt features manager, Shaundy Francek being interviewed on the walk tour. The show airs on UPN Bay Area, channel 44, KOVR Sacramento and KMAX.
